The Carlingford Leprechaun

Posted on Updated on

Legends about seeing the elusive Irish Leprechauns are hundreds of years old, but a more current example exists.  In 1989, the late P.J. O’Hare, a pub owner (of course) in Carlingford, claimed to have seen evidence of one and displayed its clothing and bones in his establishment.   The reason some believe that  people no longer see leprechauns is that they are an endangered species.  The European Union has actually declared the area around Carlingford to be protected Habitat.   This interview with the Kevin Woods, last Leprechaun Whisperer in Ireland,  further explains this story.

The man speaking is not the current pub owner but the last Leprechaun Whisperer in Ireland, Kevin Woods.
